I hate the idea of decorating the entire house for just one single day…but I LOVE the idea of having cute Valentine’s Day decorations for the Bed & Breakfast. It’s the little touches in decorating -and relationships 😉 – that go a long way! So, this year I was hoping to come up with something cute and easy that could be made in just a few minutes. A few searches on Pinterest and I found hundreds of different “Handmade Cupid’s Arrows” that were adorable and super simple to make.
With a few pieces of paper and a few other random things I had been holding on to for way too long…I knew those dried out diffuser reeds would come in handy for something!
Follow these few steps below to make these “Paper Cupid’s Arrows” in just a few minutes!
What you need:
- 10 sticks for the base of the arrow (I used old diffuser reeds, you can use kebob sticks, pencils, pipe cleaners, etc.)
- Cardstock paper (patterns and solid colors)
- Hot glue gun (or Scotch tape)
Step 1 – Cut out 4 long 1-2” wide strips of patterned cardstock paper. Cut out 10 squares of patterned cardstock paper that are 3” x 3” in size.
Step 2 – Cut the long strips of cardstock into 10 different “tails” for the arrows. Cut out 10 different hearts from the square pieces of cardstock to create the “tips” of the arrows. Glue each of the tails and tips to the plain cardstock with space between each piece.
Step 3 – Carefully cut out each of the shapes from the plain cardstock creating a solid colored border.
Step 4 – Carefully hot glue the “tail” piece to the bottom of the stick and the “tip” piece to the top of the stick. When gluing the tail piece, you will want the stick to be on top. When gluing the “tip” piece you’ll want the cardstock to be on top.
This is a great activity to get your toddler excited for Valentine’s Day while working on learning their shapes. Depending on their age and ability, help your child cut out the “heart” or “triangle” shapes and use tape instead of hot glue to make this a safe craft for kids. If you have some feathers lying around, let them add feathers to the end for an extra special touch.
Happy Valentine’s Day loves!
