One of my toddlers favorite dress up items when playing pretend is definitely masks. She loves the super hero masks, animal masks whatever is available. Masks are easy for her to get on and off on her own and she can look at herself in the mirror and giggle.
To celebrate Mardi Gras this year we decided it would be fun to make our own masks. So to save some time, we found this easy printable from Kids Activities Blog. The best thing is that is come with little decorations that you can color, cut and glue to the mask.
Check out the instructions below to make your own DIY Mardi Gras Masks to celebrate Fat Tuesday.
What you need:
- Markers – try the Mumbo Jumbo Chunky Markers from OOLY, they won’t disappoint!
- Glue stick
- String for the mask
- Hole punch

Step 1 –
Download and print out the DIY Mardi Gras Masks from Kids Activities Blog. If you have it available, use card stock or a heavy weight paper to make the mask a little more durable. If not, regular printer paper will work just fine.
Step 2 –
Use markers or colored pencils to color in all the different accessories and the mask. We love the Mumbo Jumbo Chunky Markers from OOLY because they are easy for little hands and come in a variety of really bold colors.
Step 3 –
Cut out all the pieces of the mask and accessories.
Step 4 –
Use a glue stick to glue all the pieces onto the mask in whatever design you like. Get creative!
Step 5 –
Use a hole punch to make two holes on the sides of the mask. Thread string through the holes to make the mask wearable.
We had so much fun designing our own masks for Mardi Gras today! The best thing about this mask printable is that no two masks ever turn out alike, so you can have fun making them over and over again.
Also, try glitzing them up with rhinestones, glitter or sequins for a little extra glam. 🙂
