Time for your check up! Time for your check up! This Disney channel song is one that gets stuck in our heads every other day since our two-year-old loves the Doc McStuffins TV show. In addition to hearing that catchy tune on the TV, our daughter received a toy microphone that replays the song over and over while lighting up. Cicily loves to take the microphone and pretend to give “check ups” by holding the microphone light to check your eyes and to check your ears.
In order to distract her from playing the song over and over again on the microphone, I thought it would be better to make a play Doc McStuffins costume.
Find out how to make your own Doc McStuffins accessories below!
What you need:
- Purple pipe cleaners
- 1 glowstick connector piece (this is optional)
- Small, round metal lid to a jar (I used the top of a jar of Cake Mate® Dessert Spread because it was already pink and only 3-4” in diameter)
- Hot pink and white paint
- Paint brush
- Purple head band
- Hot pink felt (I used the sparkly kind)
- Glue gun
Step 1 – Take the lid of the jar and paint it hot pink. Then, paint a white circle around the outter edge of the lid. Next, paint a smaller circle within the outter circle. This will create a bull’s eye design with a pink center. Let the paint dry completely. This will become base of Doc’s stethoscope.
Step 2 – Carefully cut a few small hearts out of the hot pink felt. Use a glue gun to carefully glue the hearts to Band-Aids.
Step 3 – Take one of the heart Band-Aids and stick it across the stethoscope base at an angle.
Step 4 – Take one purple pipe cleaner and place it through the glowstick connector. Slide the connector to the center of the pipe cleaner.
Step 5 – Wrap a purple pipe cleaner around the glowstick connector.
Step 6 – At each end of the pipe cleaner, connect another pipe cleaner by twisting around the ends. Bend and twist the new end of the pipe cleaner to the original to create a loop. Repeat this step on the other side so that you have two loops. These will help your little one wrap the stethoscope around their ears.
Step 7 – Once the paint has dried completely, glue the pipe cleaner to the stethoscope base.
Step 8 – Carefully cut a small flower shape from the hot pink felt. Paint a small white dot in the center of the flower. Let dry completely.
Step 9 – Glue the flower to the top of the purple head band slightly to one side.
Pair these accessories with some purple paints, sparkly shoes and a white jacket and you have your very own mini Doc McStuffins ready to accept new patients!
