Friday was always pizza night in my house growing up. We would eat lots of pizza, play board games and watch a movie. Every kid and adult looks forward to Friday and pizza was just the cherry on top.
As we got older, we started to make our own homemade pizzas instead of ordering in. This made pizza night even more fun in my mind! Picking toppings and placing them on the dough in just the right order made your pizza taste ten times better.
My daughter absolutely loves pizza night, too. Recently, we gathered together some scrap pieces of felt while cleaning out the craft closet to make my daughter her own pizza making kit.
Find out how you can make your own Felt Pizza kit for your play kitchen in just a few minutes!
What you need:
- Beige felt
- White felt
- Maroon felt
- Red felt
- Black felt
- Yellow felt
- Green felt
Step 1 –
Gather together scrap pieces of felt. Cut out one large pizza dough shape out of the beige felt.
Step 2 –
Cut one round (but wavy) circle of red felt that is slightly smaller than the dough shape. This will become the marinara sauce.
Step 3 –
Cut many small shredded cheese shapes out of the white felt. This will become the mozzarella that you can sprinkle over top of the marinara sauce.
Step 4 –
Cut small 1″ circles out of the maroon felt scraps to make slices of pepperoni.
Step 5 –
Cut pepper rings out of the green and yellow felt scraps.
Step 6 –
Cut small 1/2″ circles out of the green and black felt scraps to make slices of green and black olives.
Step 7 –
Cut small bumpy circles out of the maroon felt scraps to crumbles of sausage.
Bon Appetite! Let your little one begin making their own pretend pizza masterpiece.
When you’re finished playing, store in a gallon sized freezer bag. We like to separate the shredded cheese pieces and place them into a separate sandwich bag so we can keep them a little more organized.
