They say the way to any girl’s heart is chocolate. That may be true, but if you want to score bonus points with this girl, sweet and salty is the way to go! I absolutely loved the Take5 candy bar from Hershey’s. Which I hear is making a comeback soon!
This Valentine’s Day, we’ve created a more simplified version of the Take5 by using pretzel crisps, chocolate chips and Wilton’s Candy Melts. Find out how to make your own below!
What you need:
- Pretzel crisps (we used Snack Factory’s Original Pretzel Crisps)
- Chocolate chips
- Wilton Candy Melts (Pink, White, Purple)
- Small squeeze bottles
- Wax paper
Step 1 – Line a sheet tray with wax paper.
Step 2 – In a small glass bowl, melt enough chocolate chips to dip the pretzel crisps.
Step 3 – Once the chocolate chips are melted, dip the pretzel crisps into the bowl. You may need to lay each side flat in order to fully cover both sides.
Step 4 – Place the chocolate covered pretzels onto the wax paper. Let cool for 15 minutes or until chocolate has dried.
Step 5 – Melt the candy melts in to the squeeze bottles according to the package instructions.
Step 6 – Drizzle the candy overtop the chocolate covered pretzels in whatever design you’d like!
These are best enjoyed immediately or with a day or two. If you let them sit too long, the pretzel core may become less crunchy.
If you’re feeling extra ambitious, you can take this recipe one step further to create a copycat Take5 bar. Once the dipped chocolate pretzels have dried, drizzle these few ingredients to the top of the pretzel in a thin layer:
- a small amount of caramel (Cake Mate’s Salted Caramel Dessert Spread would work well)
- a few crumbs of peanuts crushed up
- a small spoonful of peanut butter
Then, carefully spread or pour another thin layer of melted chocolate on top of the crisps. Let the chocolate dry completely. Then proceed to decorate with candy melts.
