With Christmas just past and Valentine’s Day around the corner, gift cards have been on our minds nonstop here at the bed and breakfast. To make the gift feel a little more personal, we make handmade gift cards for each of our guests who purchase them.
In addition, we wanted to make sure the guests can give them to their loved ones in a special package…not just a boring envelope. So, we learned how to create these fancy little gift card holders.
Learn how to make your own gift card holders in just a few minutes!
What you need:
- Decorative heavy weight card stock
- Circular stencil (I used a kitchen funnel)
- Glue gun
Step 1 – Create four circles on the card stock with a circular stencil and pencil.
Step 2 – Cut the four circles out of the card stock.
Step 3 – Fold each of the paper circles in half.
Step 4 – Slide the four circles together placing the left flap of each circle above and the right flap below the circle right next to it. You should have something that looks like a pinwheel.
Step 5 – Using a hot glue gun, glue the circles together carefully starting with the top most circle. If you do not have a hot glue gun, use the strongest glue you have and let dry thoroughly before use. You can also use scotch tape if needed.
Step 6 – To close the gift card holder, repeat Step 5 with the flaps of the circles.
Step 7 – Decorate and tie with ribbon.
There you go! Show that special someone you really care about them with a handmade envelope and gift card.
These are also really fun to make with children for homemade Valentine’s. Substitute the glue gun with scotch tape, or glue the circles for them to avoid burns.
