If your little girl is a girly-girl, you may be up to your ears in bows, ribbons, headbands and hair clips like us. Here’s an easy way to keep those accessories organized using a few inexpensive items.
Here’s how to make your own adorable hair bow and headband organizer with a simple picture frame, decorative ribbon and a few hooks.
What you need:
- Picture frame of your choice
- 1-inch wide ribbon
- ¼-inch wide ribbon
- Twist in hooks (you can find them at any hardware store)
- Glue gun
Step 1 – Pick out the perfect picture frame for your little girl’s room. I used a plain wood frame and stained it to match the trim in her woodland themed bedroom.
Step 2 – Measure the top of the frame to the bottom and cut strips of the 1-inch wide ribbon.
Step 3 – Flip the picture frame over. A few inches in from the inside edge of the frame, use the hot glue gun to glue the ribbon to the top of the frame. Once dried, tightly stretch the ribbon down the frame vertically and glue to the bottom of the frame.
Step 4 – Create another ribbon column a few inches apart. Continue to glue strips of ribbon across the inside of the frame until the frame is filled.
Step 5 – On the bottom edge of picture frame, screw or twist in the hooks. These hooks can be used to hang long headbands or necklaces.
Step 6 – Use the ¼ – inch ribbon to create the hanger/hook from which you will hang the frame. Securely fasten this ribbon to the top of the frame so that it can support the weight of the frame while hanging on the wall.
Step 7 – Simply hang up the frame on the wall and you’re ready to begin organizing and accessorizing!
Clip the hair clips directly to the ribbon columns. You can use clothespins to secure the headbands to the ribbons.
In lieu of hanging the frame on the wall, you could also stand it up on a dresser or shelf as an additonal decorative touch.
