One of my favorite memories from the baby shower my family held for me when I was pregnant with Cicily was the fairy garden centerpieces my mom, sister and grandma made. They filled large teacup shaped pots with little succulents, pixie plants and fairy figurines. They were adorable centerpieces for a baby girl shower.
I kept one for the nursery for when Cicily was born. Guests at the baby shower could take one home as well as prizes.
After almost two years, I thought we should spruce the miniature fairy garden up a bit. So Cicily and I decorated some rocks from the garden and brightened them up!
This was a cute, inexpensive outdoor activity you can do together.
What you need:
- Terrarium or indoor plant of your choice (pixie plants work well, but you can add these to any pot, really)
- Acrylic paint
- Fairy figurines (optional)
Step 1 – Clean the rocks and allow to dry.
Step 2 – Paint the rocks with multiple colored acrylic paints.
Step 3 – Sprinkle glitter onto the rocks.
Step 4 – Allow paint and glitter to dry thoroughly.
Step 5 – Place the rocks over top of dirt on your homemade terrarium or indoor planter.
So simple, but fun for your little one! Cicily also has fun decorating the terrariums with the little fairy figurines. She’ll move them around constantly from terrarium to terrarium and has fun placing them in silly places.
