This year we are hosting Christmas dinner in our home. Getting my two-year-old to sit down during family dinner time is a challenge enough. Paired with the added distraction of all her aunts and uncles and cousins around, no way is she going to focus long enough to sit and eat a meal together.
Thanks to my friends at International Arrivals, we were able to come up with a perfect solution to keep her in her chair at the kids table. We turned a plain white tablecloth into a fun, holiday themed doodle drawing that she can color in using her favorite washable markers.
Here’s how to make your own Washable Color-in Holiday Tablecloth for the kids table this year:
What you need:
- White tablecloth
- Black Sharpie
- Double Dip Ice Cream Scented Markers from International Arrivals
Step 1 –
Start with a blank white tablecloth. Doodle a Christmas themed drawing across the entire top of the cloth with the Sharpie permanent marker.
The beauty of this is that you can create whatever you’d like. For our holiday themed tablecloth, I drew:
- The saying “Merry & Bright”
- Christmas trees
- Christmas stocking with candy canes
- A few small birds with winter scarves
- Gingerbread man
- Poinsettia flower and winter berry branches
*Tip – be sure to place a piece of cardboard or thick paper below your tablecloth while you doodle to prevent permanent marker from bleeding through onto your tabletop surface
Step 2 –
Allow the permanent marker to dry completely for at least 24 hours. This will allow the marker to set in, and air out so your holiday dinner table doesn’t smell like permanent marker.
Step 3 –
Set the tablecloth on the table and put out the Double Dip Ice Cream Scented Markers.
Step 4 –
Have fun coloring! Encourage your little guests (and adult one too) to color in the tablecloth with the scented markers.
Don’t worry these amazing markers are perfect for messy kiddos because they are completely washable. Reuse every year by simply washing the tablecloth at the end of the night. We used a delicate setting and washed the tablecloth in cold water. I would suggest washing alone to be safe. The permanent marker should stay, while the colored markers are washed away.
Did I mention they smell super delicious? They literally smell like ice cream making these markers the perfect selection for your Christmas crafts because they won’t disrupt your delicious Christmas dinner with icky marker smell. Plus, the double tip feature comes in super handy when you want to color in smaller sections or shade in larger ones.
Looking for a last minute Christmas gift idea for a little artist in your life, I’d one hundred percent recommend these markers. You can purchase them here: Double Dip Ice Cream Scented Markers.
By the way, the same brand carries scented neon highlighters and gel crayons if you wanted to put together a little gift pack bundle.
