Who says gingerbread people have to be boring brown and white? We like ours a little more on the rainbow side. 🙂
I’ve been playing around with our pack of Chalk-o-Rama Chalk Crayons and I am in L-O-V-E. Not only do they wipe off of most surfaces super easily, but they don’t leave any dust or residue! Just simply wipe with a paper towel. Not to mention they are great for little ones because they are less messy.
These chalk crayons from International Arrivals easily wipe off most surfaces like glass, mirrors, wood, and obviously chalkboards. We also totally use them on paper because they are such pretty pastels, just note that they don’t really wipe off of porous surfaces well.
One surface I’ve found that works especially well is chipboard (cardboard with a glossy finish). These little chipboard shapes can be found all over at most crafts stores in various themes and colors. This Christmas, I found a few cutout boards shaped like gingerbread people in the Target dollar section. Of course I had to scoop them because I knew we had the best chalk crayons at home to color them with! 🙂
What you need:
- Chipboard cutouts (make sure the finish is glossy)
- Chalk-o-Rama Chalk Crayons from International Arrivals
- Paper towel
- Jewels (optional)
Step 1 –
Purchase cardboard shapes from your favorite craft store that have a glossy finish. Some craft stores sell plain sheets of chipboard paper with a glossy finish. These would make great erasable boards to draw landscapes.
Step 2 –
Decorate with chalk crayons.
Step 3 –
Bedazzle with colorful gems if you’d like. If you plan to erase and reuse the boards often, consider skipping the gems. They can make erasing more difficult to work around.
Step 4 –
Use paper towel to erase the chalk crayon when finished and create another masterpiece!
Have fun experimenting with these chalk crayons on other surfaces. I guarantee you’ll love how many different uses you can come up with for them. You can be sure we’ll have more ideas to share over the next few weeks.
